This post covers, one of the essential requirements of How to Install macOS 10.15 Catalina on VMware in Windows 10. That is called macOS unlocker, which removing the VMware’s limitation and provide you an environment to test macOS 10.15 Catalina. But before getting into all of those, let’s find out what is macOS unlocker and what it do.
What is macOS unlocker and why it is needed to Install on Windows?
macOS unlocker is a series of phyton codes which is developed for removing the restriction of Vmware on Windows and Linux Distributions. From name of the software it is clear that it is build for Apple’s operating system. During the installation of macOS series (macOS 10.15 Catalina, macOS 10.14 Mojave, macOS 10.13 HIgh Sierra, macOS 10.12 Sierra and older versions), the Apple mac OS X guest operating system is not available.
This small program is specifically built for removing those restrictions. Although the developer of the software on Github guided that the smc.version = 0 is also required for the operating system to be added in the configuration of macOS.
SMC stands for System management controller, without this code on Vmware your Virtual machine won’t run on Windows unless if you use the macOS 10.15 Catalina ISO file. I have tested macOS 10.15 Catalina on VMware without the SMC code, it is running perfectly but inside the Virtualbox with it’s code it will stuck on code loop.
Here is the proof that ISO file can work on vmware without smc code.
But why Apple’s operating system can’t be run on any computer, that’s the big question.
Apple has always tried to built the best product and offer them to their consumers. Since the company is building most of their hardware themselves, it is hard for other companies to adopt their environment. Apple isn’t doing business like Microsoft to sell their operating system, so, it is legal to run macOS on other computers. In the meantime these recent years, a set of Intel architecture processors are able to adopt macOS but after buying the set of Hardware parts.
If you have run VMware fusion on macOS, you would certainly notice it can support macOS. But why Vmware is not adding the Apple’s guest operating system for Vmware for Windows and Linux Distros. The answer would be the license or policy of Apple which has silenced the company.
In the meantime what about Oracle’s virtual machine VirtualBox, why it has the apple’s guest operating system support. Well, the answer would be the open source project and besides during the installation of macOS on VirtualBox it won’t work. It will stuck at the code loop which can be resolved by set of specific codes to change the hardware specification for the Virtual Machine.
There were YouTube channel’s who were performing so well on YouTube but their channel is terminated. In 2016, when I was doing the 70-710 Windows Server 2012 R2 Exam preparations, the techsviewer channel was terminated. Last Year; the Wikigain’s Channel (A friend of mine) channel has been terminated. Soon enough we will be removing the download links too as Techsviewer did.
You can share your thoughts of Why Apple’s operating systems (macOS Catalina, macOS Mojave, macOS High Sierra, macOS Sierra etc…) won’t be run on other computers legally as Windows and Linux can run. You can put your thoguth here on the comment section or visit join the party on Quora.
